Respect

Coat of Arms

Wythenshawe Amateurs Football Club was established in 1946 and has a long and distinguished history. In the 1950's our club played against Manchester United and drew 2-2. We have 10 successful junior teams ranging from pre-school up to under 16's, 3 senior teams and two girl teams and a ladies team all competing in leagues around Manchester. Our Club is based on Longley Lane, Northenden, Manchester, M22. Most teams play in the Timperly and District Junior Football League and the South Manchester Girls league. Our home pitch is at Holly Hedge Park, Stancliffe Road, Wythenshawe. Our aim is to maintain a structured, yet friendly environment for children of the local area to participate in organised football activities. All of which is done on a voluntary basis by FA qualified Coaches and Club staff. We are well known in the local area so we decided to set up this web site to introduce ourselves to the rest of the world and also as a thank you to all the players, supporters, parents and club staff, without whom this club would be unable to exist.

We hope you check in regularly and keep yourselves abreast with all our latest results and news and enjoy following us through this and many seasons to come.

Players, parents and everyone connected with the club would like to thank the Manchester City Academy coaches, Darren, Jonny, Lewis and Nick for the brilliant session organised at Hollyhedge on Saturday 24th October, around 60 of our 5-9 year old players attended on the day and everyone thoroughly enjoyed it. It is hoped that this is the first of many joint ventures between both clubs.

A Poem called Touchline Shouting by Simon Icke:

Touchline shouting, that's all I ever hear,

I'm so confused and filled with fear.

I'm only ten years old and football should be fun,

But with all this noise I don't know which way to run.

"Get back in defence!" my manager shouts.

Dad shouts, "Get up front and deal with these louts!"

Loud mouth supporter, who knows all the rules.

(He takes the rest of us for fools)

Shouts, "What are you doing lad? Your head's in a spin!"

Is it any surprise, with all this din?

I am only a boy, so why do you all try to destroy, what I'd love to enjoy?

    FOOTBALL SHOULD BE FUN !
